XMOS’ experience and breadth of expertise helps operators in the energy sector to protect the environment, comply with regulations and meet their business goals.
Across the lifecycle
Our independent, robust approach to environmental services supports operators worldwide on and offshore throughout asset and project lifecycles.
Clients call on our expertise from licence acquisition, feasibility and planning, options selection, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), execution and operation right through to decommissioning. We help them to remain compliant within their jurisdiction and ahead of emerging regulations and technical advances.
XMOS Africa’s Operations & Maintenance services are geared towards supporting our clients’ HS&E responsibilities as well as their business objectives.
XMOS’ comprehensive range of managed services are delivered by personnel with experience on multiple types of on and offshore facilities. Our clients benefit too from our flexibility; our service level can vary from a qualified technician right up to duty holder arrangements.
Best practices, tools and techniques enable our personnel to achieve safe operations, cost reductions, enhanced productivity and sustainable performance improvements.
Flow Assurance
A detailed understanding of flow assurance performance and risk is critical to optimising the performance of operating assets with subsea or pipeline infrastructure.
Using steady-state and transient approaches, combined with sophisticated simulation and modelling tools, we provide our clients with operational support to keep their products flowing. Extensive experience of the methods available for tuning transient models to match reality enables our engineers to provide accurate, reproducible results that can be used to analyse and optimise operational systems.
Production management tools, purpose built by XMOS, correlate simulated with real-time data to provide fast, effective solutions for enhanced monitoring and optimisation of challenging subsea developments. In turn, this allows operators and engineers to make informed decisions in the areas that directly benefit the asset’s productivity, stability and availability.
Our flow assurance expertise is based on an in-depth understanding of fluid behaviour, including fluid rheology, hydrate prediction and mitigation, wax deposition, PVT characterisation and other production chemistry issues. Better still, all our engineers have a good understanding of the impact of transient analysis on topside infrastructure – they are trained to recognise the constraints that may be imposed by existing platform or terminal equipment.
Process & Facilities services from XMOS Africa provide a high-quality, independent consultancy service to clients in the upstream oil and gas, renewables, and carbon capture and storage industries.
With extensive experience of working in these industries, our consultants apply a multidisciplinary approach to the challenges that confront our clients through the entire development and production lifecycle, from appraisal studies through to final decommissioning.

Operational Support.
We also provide support at every stage of seismic acquisition operations from the initial design and planning, tender support, risk assessment, logistical planning, equipment selection and audit, including on site QAQC acquisition and project management through to QAQC during processing.
The effective management of technical safety and risk is one of the first priorities in any energy project.
Production facilities and renewables sites are usually complex and located in unique environments that are almost always hostile with potential for health and safety issues, negative environmental impact or loss-making downtime. The ability to predict and then prevent or mitigate undesirable events is probably the single most important factor in achieving business success in the energy industries.
The technical safety and risk team at XMOS works hand-in-hand with consultants from our other disciplines to ensure that effective risk management is a key feature of every project throughout the lifecycle of the asset, from initial concept through full-scale production to decommissioning.
We cover every activity associated with safety, risk and equipment reliability, from the preparation of individual studies through to the provision of dedicated, full-time support. Because our approach is multidisciplinary, and because we take an unbiased, independent view of our clients’ needs, we challenge conventional thinking. We encourage our clients to approach project design from fresh perspectives and ensure pivotal decisions are based on a clear understanding of the integrity issues involved.
XMOS Wells’ experience covers the asset lifecycle from exploration through appraisal to development, production and plug and abandonment.
We manage complex projects for exploration and production operators around the world, integrating our technical capabilities to deliver wells on time, within budget and to the highest safety standards.
Drawing on the specialist skills of our drilling, testing, completion and well intervention engineers together with the resources of other XMOS disciplines, XMOS Wells plans, manages and supports major drilling programmes from exploration and appraisal to development and production and through to abandonment.
We have years of knowledge and experience to share. Our client relationships are based on continuity of experience, as trust earned at the well engineering and preparation stage builds long-lasting bonds through the operational and handover stages. In turn, this has stimulated an influx of engineering talent that feeds practical experience back into our design service.
